Lucille Jackson and the late Reverend Roswell Jackson, Sr. on August 7, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia.
A TIME TO DIE Reverend Dwight Jackson left his earthly home to join his Heavenly Father Tuesday, July 23, 2002.
A TIME TO BUILD UP Dwight M. Jackson received his early training in the public and private schools of Atlanta, Georgia. He continued his education and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Cum Laude from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, a Master of Arts Degree in Urban Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity upon him. Reverend Jackson was licensed to preach the Gospel and became an ordained minister in 1967. In April of 1986 he was installed as Pastor of Amity Baptist Church where he served faithfully for 16 years.
A TIME TO LOVE The epitome of a Pastor and friend, with an explosive personality, he lived by the profession of his faith in Christ. He was a scholar and a dynamic seminarian. Pastor Jackson was a generous person with a commitment to the welfare of humankind, and possessed a great passion for the youth and the aged. He was known for his warm and jovial manner. Pastor Jackson loved life and he loved people. All who came in contact with him including the rich, the poor, the saved, and the unsaved reciprocated this love.
A TIME TO WEEP AND A TIME TO MOURN He leaves to mourn, a loving family and an enormous congregation of friends. The legacy that Reverend Dwight McCauley Jackson leaves is a commitment to Christ, a love of family, and the importance of working hard while giving unto others. Dwight fought the good fight and finished the course. Family, friends, and church members will cherish beloved memories of his soul.
