As we gather together If tears run down your face, Just keep your eyes on Jesus And the goodness of His grace.
For though now it seems hard to endure And I know it causes pain,
But if you were in heaven right now, You'd hear God calling me by name
He told me He's glad to see me That it's been a long long time.
He has wrapped His arms around me He told me here all is fme. God has shown me all of the mansions With the rolling hills and plains And reminded me that up in heaven,
I won't suffer any pain.
So as we sit in silence, Let us bow our heads in prayer, Praising God for all of His blessings, And thanking Him for being there Just know that God will always walk beside you, Even until your time on earth is through. And if you trust Him, like you should
You'll go to heaven, And He will call your name too.

MRS. MARILYN YVONNE CALDWELL IVEY, affectionately called "Nanny" and "Old Head" by her grandchildren, made her transition to her eternal resting place peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2015. She was 79 years old. The peace and rest of the Lord was evident. She went to be home wit4 the Lord having the joy of being with Him forevermore. Her transition leaves the testimony that the earthly death of Saints is indeed precious to Him.

Marilyn was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 6, 1935 to Godfrey Shelby Caldwell and Walter-Mae Wilson. Marilyn's mother passed away when Marilyn was only three years . Her aunt, Clara Lavelle Caldwell, , stepped in by ratsmg Marilyn and her brother William, as her very own.

It was while being raised by her aunt that Marilyn was baptized at an

early age. Her baptism took place at Radcliffe Memorial Presbyterian

Church. This is where she worshipped with the Caldwell family until

her young adult years . Over time many of Marilyn's God-given gifts

and talents were revealed. She had a lovely singing voice that brought

many opportunities to minister and perform. It was through the gift

God gave her to be an accomplished pianist that was a surprise to

everyone ... including Marilyn. It was withpnt exten ive training that

she began playing almost overnight. It was thou od Himself

taught her how to play and issued the ca1l

truly an amazing

gift and call from God.

Marilyn attended E.R. Carter

ashington High, and

graduated from Turner High School in 1953. She furthered her

education by attending Howard University and MDTA School of

Accounting. She was married to John L. Ivey (deceased), and from

this union two children were born, Kurt Marcellous and Sharilynn

Janell.

One committed to meeting the needs of her family, Marilyn was extremely industrious. Her early employment included Scripta, various Grocery Stores, and the Accounting Department at Coca Cola Bottling Company. It was during this industrious time in her life that her gifts and talents blossomed in the Gospel Music arena.

oU'tfl1/pn loved to praise God and did just
that through playing the piano, singing and teaching. Her love for giving God praise led to her assisting with the worship services of many churches and groups in the Atlanta area. She sang with the National Divine Singers, and the Marvin Anderson Singers. She was in the Atlanta Gospel Singers Convention, which consisted of eight groups. She served as lead musician for Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend E. H. Dorsey, First Corinth Baptist Church under Rev. M. L. Raglin and Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Homer Smith.
Marilyn didn't just give of herself in the church house. She gave of herself to those around her. She loved to cook for her family and friends. Many were blessed to sit at her table to enjoy the best cornbread dressing in the south. She was known to 'put a hurting' on any type of greens (turnips, mustard, collards and the like). And, she gave no thought to 'throwing down on' oxtails, neck bones, and short ribs ...with fried com. Marilyn's heart was always to provide a good meal and fellowship for her family, friends and those in need.
Among those who will always be grateful for the life she lived are: sister, Rita Hurley-Ellenwood GA; son, Kurt Ivey, Rock Hill SC and daughter, Sharilynn Winston (Percy Winston, Sr.)-Charlotte NC. Marilynn has left a legacy for her six grandchildren to pass along: K.alique of California; Rodney, Sherretta, Percy, Jr, Reyhan- all of North Carolina and Kameshaof South Carolina. Her three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins too will remember and cherish the impact 'Nanny' has had on their lives. The same can be said for her dearly treasured friends: Nina Simmons, Nellie Stewart Gardner, Dorothy Norwood, Gwendolyn Pope, Lenora Watkins, Betty Jennings, and so many more including the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Mt. Sinai and First Corinth Baptist Churches in Atlanta.
\'Ve bless God for "Nanny's" life on earth. We choose to continue the legacy she has given us. And though we miss her, we celebrate that she is in the very presence of God ... for we know we shall see her again.
