[Funeral program for Martha Badgett Howard]

Martha Badgett Howard. the third daughter of John Ernest Badgett and Lucy King Badgett. was born November 16, 1912 In Caswell County. God saw fit to call her home on September 20. 1999. at the Brian Center in Yanceyville. North Carolina.
Martha attended public school in Caswell County and attended high school on North Scales Street In Reidsville. under the principalshlp of the late J. A. McRae. following high school days. she met and married Roy J. Howard and made Reidsville her home.
At an early age. Martha joined New Ephesus Baptist Church. Later. she joined Zion Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the Rev. W. L. Mason. Martha was an ardent worker while at Zion. Her activities included a Senior Choir membership until June 1997, Sunday School teacher for primary boys. and class president of the Senior Missionary for twelve years. She was also president of the Minister's Wives Alliance fellowship for two years and was a special worker for the Missionary County Union.
Martha was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #477 for over 50 years.
She worked for 15 years at the American Tobacco factory and later worked 15 years at Annie Penn Hospital.
Martha reunited wit the Zion Baptist family following the death of her husband. As long as Martha was able, she was ardent and supportive of Zion Baptist Church. Even during her lengthy illness she continued to pay her honest tithes to the church.
She leaves to mourn her passing: two sisters. Estelle Oark and Elizabeth Poulley of Phlladelphia. Pennsylvania: one brother. Henry Badgett of Brooklyn. New York: adopted daughters, VIrginia Totten Person and husband. Rev. Judah A. Person. Jr.. of Southern Pines. North Carolina. Rochelle Tucker of Reidsville. North Carolina and Evangeline Petress of Wagner, South Carolina: nieces. Yvonne Clark and son. Eugene Clark. Betty Badgett of Philadelphia. Pennsylvania. Effie M. faucett of Washington. DC: nephews, James Walker and wife Edna of Providence. North Carolina. Howard Samuel Walker of Washington. DC. Bobby Badgett and ABron Clark of Philadelphia. Pennsylvania: great nephew. Tommy Lee Totten of Caswell County: aunt. Annie Williamson of Reidsville. North Carolina. and a host of relatives. friends and well wishers.
