Obituary
.Motlier {iener .Mae ffines, the youngest of three children born
to the late Willie and Cynthia Smith, was born July 3, 1933, in Wedowee, Alabama. She departed this life on Monday, February 29, 2016.
While in Alabama, she met and fell in love with her husband Fred Hines, they were blessed to have two sons and one daughter. They were married for over 40 years.
The family later moved to Atlanta, where Gener was employed by Georgia State University, where she retired after 30 years. After retirement, she continued to do those things she loved most, traveling, cooking, baking cakes and gardening.
Gener accepted Christ at an early age, and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama. After moving to Atlanta, she moved her membership to Antioch East Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor W.E. Lumpkin. Gener served faithfully on the Mother's Ministry, Usher Ministry #1, Senior Choir, and Joyful Hand Ministry. In the community, she served as a member of the Edgewood Golden Age Shining Stars.
Mother Hines loved her church. She was inspired by the word of God, and felt the need to share it with those she came in contact with. She had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren, and wanted to make sure that they put God first in their lives.
We will forever remember the love and care she gave to her family and friends.
Mother Hines was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Boyd, and her sister, Mary Grimmett.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons; Rodger (Jacquelyn) Hines and Jackie F. Hines. One daughter; Vanessa (Alfred) Holmes. Six grandchildren; DeAngelo (Brittany), Maria, Chanile, Alfred, Marquis, and Sierra. Four great-grandchildren; Jamel, Shakira, Shaniya and Nevaeh. A host of other relatives and friends.
