CELEBRATION OF LIFE
FOR

~ Harvenia H. Hill, 78, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and distinguished educator, passed away quietly on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Harvenia had 38 years of exemplary service in the Atlanta Public School System. She began her career as a seventh grade teacher at Anderson Park Elementary School and after nine years she advanced to serve as principal at Harwell Road Elementary School and Bazoline E. Usher Middle School until her retirement in 1995. "Together for Progress" was her administrative theme as she worked with students, staff, parents and community supporters. A native of Atlanta, Harvenia was a product of E.R. Carter Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School where she graduated in 1953. She continued her studies at Spelman College, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology in 1957. She also enjoyed fun and fellowship as a member of the Les Debonnaires Bridge and Social Club.
In retirement she devoted herself to volunteer services, civic and community affairs, most of which involved providing for the needs of others. As such, Harvenia served as a volunteer for the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America as well as other youth-affiliated organizations. Don't grieve for me, for novv I'm free, I'm follovving the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I vvish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.
