06ituary
Mrs. Carrie B. Hill was called home on Monday, January 31, 2011 because her mission here on earth was complete. Carrie was born August 13, 1938 to the late Eddie and Rosa Evans in Augusta, Georgia. Her parents later moved to the Summerville Community in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1955 at the tender age of 16. In the fall of that year she entered Clark College now known as Clark Atlanta University.
At an early age, Carrie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church Atlanta, Ga. Later in life she joined Ben Hill United Methodist Church where she was an active member until her health declined. During her tenure at Ben Hill, Carrie actively served on various ministries including Board of Trustees and the Jewels and Partners.
As the mother of a special needs son, Carrie worked tirelessly to make sure he was afforded the same opportunities as everyone else. As a result of her efforts, she was instrumental in the establishment of the first school for educating special needs children in Georgia. While championing his cause, she began her career at The Department of Labor where she was a devoted employee for many years. She eventually earned her real estate license and joined the team at Barbara J. Alexander Realtors. Carrie truly found her niche in real estate. She loved selling homes and networking with others. Her true passion was helping young couples buy their 1st home. Years later she moved to Caldwell Banker where she remained until she retired. As a real estate agent, Carrie excelled while working alongside her husband, Doug. She was a consistent member of the Million Dollar Club, the most prestigious club among realtors. Her hard work and dedication earned her the Phoenix Award in 2004.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father Eddie Evans, mother Rosa Sanford, husband Douglas Hill, son Eddie uLil Doug" Pennamon, mother-in-law Eloise Hill, father-in-law Frank Hill Sr., and sister-in-law Carolyn Wyatt. She is survived by her devoted cousin Michelle .,Lynn" (Tony) Williams; step-daughter Delsandra (Henry) Weaver; aunt Mrs. Emmie Watson of Chicago; uncle Brantley Davis of Augusta; brother-in-laws Dr. Frank Wyatt Sr. and Mr. Frank (Marlene) Hill Jr.; devoted sister friend Mrs. Shirley Jackson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
