In the year of 1940, Willie Arnold Crawl Hicks was born to Willie Hicks and Magnolia Crawl in the small town Manchester, Georgia. Where he joined five other siblings, he was small in size, but not in spirit.
As a young child, being brought up in a large family he learned to survive. This ability allowed him to leave home at an early age. He moved from the small town ofdark streets to Atlanta, Georgia where the lights never went out. He stayed with his youngest uncle and his uncle's wife, until he met his lovely wife, Elizabeth.
After wedding, He moved his wife to their own place. They bore two lovely children, Dwayne and Shaun. Willie Arnold Crawl Hicks was better known to all as Bubba or Shorty. The name "Shorty" very appropriate, but he walked tall and we all knew not to mess with "Shorty".
Bubba was a silent protector, known to his nieces and nephews "made of steel"; to his sisters and brothers, the strong one in the family. He will be greatly missed.
On April4, 2012, Bubba finished the race, and left a space, that space will be forever remembered and cherished by his, son, Dwayne ofAtlanta, Georgia; daughter, Shaun ofAtlanta, Georgia; five sisters, Barbara Owens Williams, of Chicago, Illinois; Emma D. Crawl Denson of Manchester, Georgia; Martha V. Crawl Wright of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Maggie Lois Crawl of Lithia Springs, Georgia; Susie Ann Crawl Choates and husband ofAlexandria, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and an array offriends.
