"Dewey was a champion
for social~ responsible and mission related investing:
Gary N~lson , President, H~a l thcare Georgia Foundation

Over the past 10 years, Dewey Hickman has served as a consultant to numerous health care organizations in the areas of strategic planning, administration, performance improvement, finance, and management. His particular expertise helped bring a fine point to the Foundation's grantmaking with respect to performance and accountability.

Mr. Hickman's arrival on the board marked a milestone for the Foundation as it moved to expand its board diversity. He was the ftrst board member to represent the Foundation at a national philanthropic conference on philanthropy and diversity. Dewey also chaired the board's Nominating Committee, responsible for recruiting the Foundation's current board officers.
A Socially Responsible Steward
In his role on the Foundation's Audit/Finance/Investment Committee, Mr. Hickman was a frequent champion of socially responsible and mission related investing. He took great care to help ensure that the Foundation investments were aligned with program and mission goals, frequently noting any gaps related to health promotion and disease prevention.

As a result of his influence, the Foundation has since adopted changes to its funding priorities that will ultimately provide further clarity and specificity around its grantmaking.
