Mark Anthony Hayes (Tony) was born on April 5, 1955 to the late Thelma J. Hayes in Claxton (Evans County) Georgia. He was the third sibling born of six children. Upon relocating to Atlanta, Georgia at an early age, he attended English Avenue Elementary and Lena-Jean Campbell Elementary Schools. He was a graduate of Luther Judson Price High School class of 1973. Tony was a member of Price High Mix Chorus and the Georgia Boys State Orchestra. After high school, he attended Atlanta Area Technical College (Marketing), Atlanta Junior College and Georgia State University.
Mark attended Wheat Street Baptist Church and Alexander Memorial A. M. E. Church. Mark's career began at The Village of St. Joseph as a youth counselor. He drove for Sears's Driving School, North Carolina Mutual Insurance and the United State Postal Service (letter carrier for over thirty years). He also served his country in the Unites States Army.
Mark possessed a very pleasant personality. He was known for being humorous and was loved by all who knew him. Mark had a strong love for animals; his dogs were his babies.
Many tears may shed, but hearts are rejoicing in the celebration oflife for "Mark Anthony Hayes':
Mark departed this life on Monday, December 9, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Nadine Hayes; three sons, Demetric (Kinshasa), Antony (Roteshia) and Anthony (Tiffany) all of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Dashauna, Demetra, Kris, Carmello, Quonteria, Antenia, Toni, Anthony Jr., Demetric Jr. and NNya; great-grandchildren, LaShavia and Jordon; three brothers, Samuel Hayes (Angela), Stone Mountain, GA; Gregory Hayes (Cynt), Lithonia, GA; Marion Hayes, Reidville, GA; two sisters, Myra Porter (Edward), Forest Park, GA and Cynthia Hayes Qames), Conley, GA; one aunt, Agnes Warren, New York; father-in-law, Emerson Knight; sisters-in-law, Mary Kelley (Leroy Sr.), Earlene Hill, Stormye Fair, Lenore Hunt; brothers-in-law, Stacey Knight (Yolanda) and Michael Knight all ofAtlanta, GA; special play daughters, Mesha Jones and Kizzie Johnson; best friend for life, Tommie Kirkland (Michelle), a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends.
