Obituary
Leonard T. Hatcher was born on December 1, 1930, in Dadeville, Alabama, to the late Donner (Chapell) and Lee Hatcher. On Tuesday, May 2, 2000, Leonard transitioned at the age of 69.
Residing at 315 Leland Terrace in Atlanta, Georgia, he was faithful in the service of Jesus Christ. Serving as a member and as Pastor's Steward in Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church. Serving his country in the United States Army, Leonard was a veteran of the Korean War. He also worked 28 years as an employee of the Ford Motor Company before retiring in 1993.
Leonard, a dedicated husband and father, is survived by his wife, Willie Mae (Stone) Hatcher, after 48 years of marriage. He leaves his daughter Willene (Hatcher) Edmonds and husband Melvin; his daughter Monica Yvette Hatcher, all of Atlanta, Georgia; his son Andre' Willis Hatcher of Flint, Michigan; and his godson Christopher Lee Hughes of Sylacauga, Alabama. Also surviving him are his sister Dorothy L. (Hatcher) Conley and husband Roy; his brother Joseph Hatcher, of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother Charles Hatcher and wife Doris of Birmingham, Alabama; and his brother Robert Hatcher and wife Mary of Mt. Morris, Michigan. Leonard also leaves 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a great host of nieces and nephews.
Leonard held a great love for life and the joy of living. And the same love held for his family and close friends, he shared as a caring friend to the needy stranger. But, his great love for Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church inspired him to endure as a true "Living Sacrifice" and do all he could for others, proving himself a true child of God.
