One day GOD took a very special seed and planted it in his garden of lovely things.
He watered it with tender drops of happiness and nourished it with the sunshine of his love. When the seed grew to maturity, he picked a bouquet of beauty and fragrance and placed it in our lives as a gift of his goodness to cherish always.
November 26, 1919, Catherine Fenn was born in Warwick, GA. to the parents of Willie and Liza Penn. Catherine moved to Moultrie, GA with her daughter Stella Mae Hall in 1938. At that time, she married Henry Lamar Hendley.
Catherine joined and was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she served until moving to Columbus, Ohio with her husband Jessie Hanks, Sr. They returned to Moultrie, Georgia in 1989. Upon returning, she joined and faithfully served the Moultrie Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In 2007 Catherine and Jessie moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Continuing her spiritual journey, she joined Mt. Olive Seventh-day Adventist Church.
On Saturday morning, July 20, 2013 GOD put to sleep what belonged to Him.
Preceding her departure were her husband, Jessie Hanks, Sr., daughter Stella Cooper Allen, brother, Willie Finn, and sister, Mary Jane Burton.
She leaves to cherish her memory one grandson, Michael Cooper; two granddaughters, Sharon Sims (Gilbert) and Robie Michaux (Lawrence); greatgrandsons, Napolean Sherrod Sr., Broderick and Michael Cooper II ; greatgranddaughters, Brittanie Burks and Stephanie Cooper; one stepson, six step daughters; and a host of great- great- grand-children, relatives and friends.
God saw you were getting weary,
So he did what he thought best. He came and stood beside you, And whispered come and rest. You bid no one a last farewell, not even a good-bye, You were gone by the time we knew it
And only God knows why.
