Reverend J. L. Henderson, Pastor Officiating
Lena Hamilton was an only child born on May 11, 1950 to Annie Pearl and William Henry Brooks in Lafayette, Alabama.
She attended Five Points High School. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1964, where she attended Price High School. This is where she met the love of her life, Roy Hamilton, Jr. They were married on June 24, 1966 and to this union two children were born, son, Rogers Hamilton and daughter, Selena Hamilton.
Lena joined the New St. John Baptist Church in 1976 under the leadership of Reverend L. Henderson. She was a faithful member and she served on the Nurses Guild Auxiliary until her health declined. Lena loved her church family. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, talking on the telephone, having a good time, and taking care of others. She never met a stranger.
She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Annie Pearl Billingsley of Lithonia, Georgia; husband, Roy Hamilton, Jr. of Decatur, Georgia; one son, Rogers (Valerie) Hamilton of Decatur, Georgia; one daughter, Selena Hamilton of Lithonia, Georgia; one sister, Mary Powell of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Aric Simmons, Ashley Hamilton, Roger Hamilton , Rogerick Hamilton, and Armani Hamilton; one playdaughter, Linda Hammock; a close niece, Janell Fann; a very close friend, Jean Monroe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Farewell, Dear Mother
Somewhere in my heart beneath all my griefand pain, Is a smile I still wear at the sound ofyour dear name. The precious word is 'MOTHER', she was my world you see, But now my heart is breaking cause she's no longer here with me. God chose herfor His angel to watch me from above, To guide me and advise me and know that I'm still loved. The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through, God had better plans for her,for this, I surely knew . When I think ofher kind heart and all those loving years, My memories surround me and I can't hold back the tears. She truly was my bestfriend, someone I could confide in, She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin. I want to thank you Mother for teaching me so well, And though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell. I'll remember all you've taught me and make you proud you'll see. Thank you my Dear Mother for all the love you showed me. Although you've left this earth and now you've taken flight, I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night.
