Our Deepest Fear Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually who are we not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't
serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And when we let our
own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As
we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Love endures long and is patient and kind; it does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening. Love never fails....
God blessed this world with the love and spirit ofDeborah Ann Hall on July 22, 1952. Her life reflected true love's fullness, capacity, and depth, and the genuine, unwavering love she expressed impacted not only a few--but God caused it to influence all she knew. She brought life, vitality and exuberance to everyone she encountered. "Debbie Doll" was born to the union ofLee Arthur Simmons, Sr. and Ruth Kyer Simmons, and she was devoted to her family and each person's care.
Deborah Ann accepted Christ at an early age and lived her life praising, glorifying, and honoring God through her limitless love and selfless acts ofkindness and generosity to all. She attended Grant Memorial AME Church and continued God's work until He returned her to Him on January 20, 2010.
She had a thirst and zeal for learning and excellence. Her primary education included attendance at both LewisChamplain and Betsy Ross Elementary Schools, and she graduated with honors from Englewood High School and Malcolm X College all ofChicago, Illinois. For those close to

her, they knew that Deborah's passion was for the art of dance. She trained and danced more than twenty years, and traveled with the internationally-renowned Darlene Blackburn Dance Company to Lagos, Nigeria in 1971 and
1977.

Via her college education, Deborah was licensed as a

Registered Nurse working ten years at Chicagoland area

facilities including Chicago Osteopathic and Providence

Hospitals. In 1983, she began working as an RN at

Cermak Health Services, Cook County Department of

Corrections and for nearly 25 years showed compassion

and care for inmates who needed quality healthcare and a

considerate person to listen to and proved for their needs.

While at Cook County, Deborah served her nursing

colleagues as a union representative, and due to her warm

and empathic demeanor, she was nominated and elected

as Nurse ofthe Year in 2000.

{!

It was also during her career at Cook County that she met

her beloved husband, Larry Vernard Hall, Sr. Their

(;

mutual respect, friendship and love for each other was

evident to all who knew them. It was unlikely to see one

without the other, and their closeness caused others to

laugh, enjoy life, and demonstrate love that was patient,

giving and unconditional.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Arthur Simmons, Sr. and much loved aunts and uncles, Emma Margaret, Dora Louise, Mary Ann, Elmer, Robert and
John.

To remember the celebration other life, she leaves to
cherish her memory: her husband - Larry Vernard Hall, Sr.; her mother - Ruth Kyer Simmons; her brother - Lee Arthur Simmons, Jr.; two daughters - Ajike Omojala Kiminta and Tamu Mariama Daniel; son-in-law- James
Daniel; grandchildren- Anaiah Mariama, Josiah James and Gabrielle Layson Daniel; mother-in-law- Arma Hall;
brother-in-law- Lynn C. Hall; stepchildren- Tambalin Cade,, Larry Hall, Jr. Drena Williams and Latrice Camp;
and a host of other loving and supportive relatives and friends. Deborah was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin and friend; may we all continue to
grow in God's love for each other in her memory.

You were a bright and shining star.

Words cannot express the pain I feel oflosing you.

God knew you were weary, so he did what was best.

He came and stood beside you and whispered, "Come and Rest"

It's hard not to shed any tears because the Love we had was so great,

but I know this is God's will.

The memories shared through the years will take

the place ofthe emptiness oflosing you.

But like you told me over 18 years ago, "Let's Do This".

Love You "Cuz", (Sone)

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out ofall his troubles. The angel ofthe Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 0 taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth
in him.
Psalms 34: 4-8
