A divine power has descended upon that man? Such was the nature of our loved one, Mr. James Edward Gwynn, whom we honor today. He was the son of the late Rev. Harvey and Mrs. Bessie Jones Gwynn,
born in Caswell County November 22, 1919 and expired Sunday, November 16, 1980 in the Memorial Hospital, Danville, Va. after 21
days of serious illness.
Ed was a life long resident of. Caswell County where he received his informal education. Wh~n he was quite young, he professed and became a faithful and useful member of the Blackwell Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.
He was a farmer in the Jones Community; employed by the Caswell County Sheriff _Department as th~ first Black Deputy Sheriff of the County and served for 15 years and was a member of the Dan River Masonic Lodge #490.
He was married to the former Rena Walker and they were blessed with one daughter. He was a loving, kind and sympathetic husband, father and brother. A humble person who always had a listening ear and a cheerful smile for everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed in the home , Church , Community and County at large, but we will strive to emulate his noble characteristics.
His survivors are his devoted wife , Mrs. Rena W . Gwynn ; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn G. Lewis; son-in-law, Mr. Aubrey G . Lewis;
