Obituary

In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have

told you. I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you

unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Mrs. Alice Jones Gwynn was born the second child of seventeen children on December 20, 1906, to the late Daniel Jones and Jennie B. Foster Jones. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 28
004, at the Brian Health Care Center in Yanceyv ille, NC. Our beloved was a Christian, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

A native of Caswell County, North Carolina, Alice was married to the late James Albert Gwynn becoming a widow in 1952. She was a homemaker and a self-employed Farmer. Alice was quite a woman by nature that trusted in the Lord for guidance. Alice faithfully served the Lord and her church. At a young age, she joined Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club of the Jones Community.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by all but three of her siblings. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Fannie Gwynn Whittle, Addie Gwynn Falden and Drew Gwynn Mims: two sons, John Gwynn and George Gwynn.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Alice Evelyn Gwynn Brown of Ruffi~ NC, Jennie Gwynn Jackson (Manning) of Washington, DC, Ruby Gwynn Bradley (Richard) of Bowie MD, Annie Gwynn Cannon (Rayfield) of Pelham, NC, Fadonia Gwynn Watlington (Percy) of Stoney Creek, NC, and Naomi Gwynn Smith of Santa Maria, CA; three sons, Otis Gwynn (Audrey) of Pelham, NC, Herley GWynn of Danville, VA, and Joseph Gwynn of Yanceyville, NC; two sisters, Madie Jones of Yanceyville, NC, and Hallie Jones Willis of Hampton, VA; one brother, George Norman Jones of Philadelphia, PA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
