Dear Papa,
Thank you for encouraging every path we chose, and making us the people we are by never letting us fall below our best. We've known you our whole life, but you only knew us for a fraction of yours. But the way you loved us was like you knew us forever. Papa's love is one like no other. To think we used to fear you just shows your protective and supportive love to us. Your spirit and legacy is a wave that will reflux, resurface, and never die. You are with us forever, continue to watch and
protect us as you always have.
Forever in our hearts, Troy and Sierra
In 2001 when my father, Mr. John H. Green, Sr. passed away. God gave me a special gift, Uncle David. He and I talked all the time. Uncle David is the reason I love pro basketball. Uncle David introduced me to Steph Curry, K_evin Durant, and Irvin (the Cav's). I could hear him smiling when we talked about the OI< City Thunder. He was happy when I became an ordained deacon in the A.M.E. church. I will miss our talks and his updated emails of the "Walmartions" (people in Walmart).
Love Always, Rev. Angela V. Green Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church, Mesa, AZ
Every summer we came to visit, there were new adventures, taste (he loved subs) and sights. My Uncle Dave (as he was known to our family as it related to Skip, Cheryl, and I), opened that world to us. Our father passed away when we were eight, five and three. Our Uncle Dave loved having two little girls once a month every year. Our Uncle Dave, Elma and the kids would visit Atlanta yearly, and he introduced and shared his love of baseball (the Atlanta Braves) with us. He would always make sure Skip took in a baseball game, and we especially loved the double header games. Skip also had a strong love of the Baltimore Colts (and Johnny Unitas) courtesy of Our Uncle Dave. Our Uncle Dave, was a wonderful man, mentor, and a truly lovely human being, who had a special place in his heart for two little girls one who wanted big legs, one he loved the most, and a little boy who was lucky to have an Uncle David in his life. We were his, and he was ours.
Love forever, Skip, Cheryl, and Sheila
What is a Grandfather? A grandfather is someone very special. He's someone you can go to with a problem, trust to keep a secret, and count on in a time of need. He's honest, loyal, and trustworthy, and can always be depended on. He's someone that you can think about often, love and appreciate beyond words, and will cherish always. In a sentence ...
"A grandfather is one of the greatest blessings you can ever have." by: Anonymous Love always, Great grandchildren, Alexis, CJ, Tavon, Genaya, and Jazmyn
Where do we both begin? First, he was a loving and devoted husband to our precious Grandma Green, also a caring and hardworking family man to the extreme. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. It showed throughout his daily life. He had a servants' heart that was pure gold. Most importantly, to us the GREATEST role model and grandpa a grandchild could ever want or have. We will miss our times together, bonding at family gatherings, birthdays, and reunions. The priceless moments which turned into hilarious/heartfelt moments, and childhood stories he felt the need to share. Wow these precious.... memories of our Grandpa, we will forever treasure and hold. Count it all, as joy to the Lord, up above, for the fun-filled and inspiring years with him on earth. He taught us to appreciate life, and live it to its fullest, gave us the examples of his unconditional love for family, church, grands, friends, relatives, and many more loved ones. To sum it up, we felt his care was indescribable! Thank you, Grandpa, for your wisdom and phenomenal ways. We are honored that you were our Grandpa and had a lifetime of knowing you in a very special way. So, we will continue to follow in your legacy and share with our own family and kids your special light. Grandpa, all we're trying to say is.... Well Done, thy Good and Fait hful Servant. May you rest peacefully in heaven. We love you so much and miss you even more. K.eep watch over us until, we meet again. One day at heaven's door.
With Deepest Love, Your Grandchildren Nicole Russell and Deuce Green
