Harold Gotha, the son of Mary and Herbert Gotha, was born on November 28, 1930 in New York City. He attended public schools and graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx.
For many years Harold worked in retail. Later, for more than two decades he was employed at an advertising and markrting agency-Avrett, Free and Ginsberg until his retirement in 2003.
Spirituality was an important part of Harold's life. Although raised in the Catholic tradition, he embarked upon esoteric and metaphysical studies. In the early 70's Harold began attending classes and lectures at Unity Center and at the First Church of Religious Science in New York City. After completing his studies, he continued to study at home and gave generous financial support to Unity Center until his demise.
Harold or "Go-Go" as he was called by family and friends loved life. He enjoyed all genres of music especially Jazz. In addition he was a movie buff, an historian, a philosopher and above all a walker. Harold, a reserved and contemplative individual had an uncanny ability to slip away from any family's social events and "walk home" where he would be found sitting quietly in his khakis, tee-shirt and slippers.
In the early morning hours on November 27, 2013 just one day short of his 83rd birthday, Harold (Go-Go) slipped away from his family and friends. He has
embarked upon a new journey, in a new home.
Harold is survived by his sisters, Joan Gotha-Williams and Eglintine Gotha-Rigaud (Husband-Gardy), Nieces: Chimene Williams, Leslie Williams, Shawnika Williams, Djuana Rigaud and Rajani Rigaud (God-daughter), Nephews: Miles Williams, Jean- Herbert Rigaud, Raynard Gotha, Antoine Gotha and Abdul Gotha, Cousins: Carol Charles, Jade Marcelin (Husband-Claude), Joseph Weeks, Kenneth Jackson Ill, Bryan Jenkins, and Isaiah Jackson, Family- The Pickering's, Weig-Pickering's, Smiths, the Thomas' and the Hixon's; and his extended family the Birmingham's.
