State CoUege (now UnLversLty) Ln Savannah, GeorgLa. A hLghlLght of her coUege career was becomLng a member of the Delta Nu Chapter of Delta SLgma Theta SororLty, lncorporated Ln 1961. Mary ~ored Ln Food, NutrLtlon and lnstltutlon Management and graduated Ln 1963. FoUowLng graduatlon, she completed an Lntern.shLp at Howard UnLversLty Ln WashLngton, DistrLct of ColumhLa. lt was at Savannah State where she met the man who would become the love of her life; the taU, handsome and brlllLantJLm Frank Glenn, Sr. The two were marrLed Ln Atlanta, GeorgLa on September 19, 1964. The Glenn's home was always steeped Ln relLgLousfaLth, educatlonal excellence and a commLtment ofservLce to others. ln 1973, she became the first AfrLcan AmerLcan to he awarded the Master ofMedLcal Sdence Ln DLetetlcs degree from Emory UnLversLty, Atlanta, GeorgLa. TheLr steadfast, unwaverLng love was an LnspLratLon to everyone who knew and loved them.J Lm preceded Mary Ln death Ln August 2008.

Over the next twenty-dght years, Mrs. Glenn held several posLtLons LndudLng dLetltLan at the Rape Crisis Center at Grady MemorLal HospLtaL She completed her professLonal career as coordLnator ofthe Expanded Food and NutrLtlon Educatlon Program and Teenage Mothers NutrLtLon Educatlon Program wLth the UnLversLty ofGeorgLa DeKalh County ExtensLon ServLce, Decatur, GeorgLafrom whLch she retlred Ln 2005. Mary Glenn was dedLcated to her beloved Delta SLgma Theta SororLty, lncorporated for fifty-two years. She epLtoml.zed sisterhood and servLce. Mary was an early member and former presldent ofthe Decatur Alumnae Chapter where she and her sister, OzLeJackLe Adams, made history as the only two sisters to have served as presLdent ofthe Decatur Alumnae Chapter. Mary was a drLVLngforce hehLnd the creatlon ofthe Delta SLgma Theta- Kappa Alpha PsL CommunLty AchLevement Center Ln DeKalh County, GeorgLa. Mary Glenn also served as the DST State CoordLnator durLng the sororLty's HabLtat for HumanLty lnLtLatlve. Mary HoUis Glenn was afifty year member ofthe Ebenezer Baptist Church, the spLrLtu.al home ofDrs. MartLn Luther KLng, Sr. andJr. At Ebenezer, Mary could he depended on to support the entlre church program. She wlllLngly served as the Youth Usher Board advisor, WLth the LadLes Usher Board, the EstherJean Roberts MissLonary CLrde, the Women's MissLonary UnLon, theJune BLrthmonth Club, the MarrLage EnrLchment MLnistry and the MartLn Luther KLng, Sr. Blhle Class.
Mrs. Glenn was a role model to generatlons ofyoung people and was especLaUy commLtted to helpLng develop theLr mLnds by demonstratlng hLgh mora[ and ethLcal standards. Her thLrstfor knowledge, her sense ofhumor, and her hLgh regardfor excellence and honor are among her most prl.zed [egades. But more than anythLng else, Mary NeU Hollis Glenn wLU he remembered as a lady Ln the truest sense, as a VLrtuous woman who always knew, and sought to do what was rLght, and who, through her word and her deeds, served as an exemplar to her chL[dren, grandchLldren, nLeces and nephews and Lnnumerah[e others whose [Lves she touched.
