Obituary Anna Marie Gilford
Anna Marie Gilford was born on August 15, 1935 to the union of the late George and Olivia Mitchell.
She was raised in Detroit, Michigan but, later moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she spent most of her adult years. This is where she met the love of her life John W. Gilford, Sr. They united in marriage on May 29, 1960. The Lord blessed them to raise four beautiful children, Kimberly, John Jr., Lashawn, and Olivia. They relocated to Lawrenceville, GAin 1998. John and Marie became members of Antioch A.M.E. Church in Stone Mountain, GA.
Marie was affectionately called "Auntie" by her nieces and nephews and was known for her kindness, encouragement, and reaching out to others. Her nurturing ways attracted numerous people causing her to even become a second mother to some. Her love, warmth, quick wit, wisdom, and humor was seen by all who knew her.
On December 3, 2013 she departed from this earthly life to live eternally with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was proceeded in death, by her brothers George Mitchell Jr., Jesse Mitchell, and Bobby Mitchell. Her memory will be cherished by all those who knew her including John her devoted husband of 53 yrs., her children Kimberly (Michael) Gainesville, FL; John Jr. (Missy) Snellville, GA; granddaughter I<risty San Antonio, TX; nieces that she raised Lashawn (I<.iera) Lawrenceville, GA; and Olivia Detroit, MI; siblings: William (Beverly) E. St. Louis, IL; Jean Hart Southfield, MI; Sandra Mitchell Detroit, MI; Denise Mitchell Cleveland, OH; Rochelle Mitchell E. Cleveland, OH; Rickey Mitchell (Flomella) Cleveland, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
