Sherrell Jermaine Gibson was born in West Palm Beach Florida on December 30, 1976. He moved to Atlanta Georgia June 1989, where he was a student at Columbia Elementary and Cedar Grove High School. Sherrell went to attend the University of Central Florida in Orlando Florida.
After the death of his father (Arnold Sherrell Gibson), Sherrell joined the United States Army on October 7, 1998. During his tenure in the United States Army, he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado and achieved the rank of Spec.E4. His duties took him to Cuba (2002) and to Iraq (2003), as a voice interceptor speaking Arabic and several other languages. Sherrell's medal and citations include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Machinegun Bar, and the Overseas Service Bar. After Sherrell was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces, he was gainfully employed at Spherion as an Auditor. He was also continuing his education studying Information Technology at Clayton State University.
Sherrell was affectionately known as "Jermaine". He was sweet, kind, and always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. We could always depend on Jermaine to make us smile, and laugh. He loved to greet his family with big bear hugs of which we will truly miss.
