Mrs. Ruby Collins Gaston, the daughter of the late Bessie Rozier Collins and July Collins, was born on July 9, 1913.
Sister Gaston's formal education was at Washington Street School in Laurens County, Georgia.
She was united in marriage to Robert Lee Gaston on March 8, 1937. To their union was born two children, Harold Proford Gaston and the late Mrs. Gloria Jeanell Gaston Ricks.
Sister Gaston gave her lift to Christ at an early age and served him until her death. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ for over fifty years. For years, she served as church secretary, a Sunday school teacher, and as a leader of the Sunshine Band. She was faithful and loved working with children. She gave unconditional love and special care to her daughter, Gloria for many years.
She departed this life on Tuesday, February 26, 2002, and leaves to cherish her memory, son, Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Pearl) Cowan and family; granddaughters, Natalie (Cookie) and her husband, Jeru Morgan and Carol Cowan; greatgrandchildren, Roger and Ashley DeMarr, Mia and her husband, Jamin McBeth, Vidal R. Morgan, Natalie T. Ricks, and Jean Vincent Ricks; six great-great-grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Ricks; sister-in-law, Mrs. John A. (Ethel) Collins and family; children of her late brother, Mr. and Mrs. Artis (Janie) Collins, Sr.; children of her late sister, Mrs. Lizzie Harris; children of her late brotherin-law, Mr. and Mrs. George (Greta) Gaston; brother-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Bonnie (Hattie) Gaston and family, Mr. and Mrs. William (Irene) Gaston and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Moses (Paralee) Gaston and family; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Gaston Hammonds and family; numerous cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
