Addie Belle (Maudestine) Garner was born January 6, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Carrie Belle Amos. She passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. Garner, Sr.; brother, Carroll Amos; and life companion, Lovett Young.
She graduated from Henry McNeal Turner High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Wilbur E. Garner, Sr. and from this 36 year-union five wonderful children were born. She was affectionately involved in every aspect of their lives. Maudestine was the epitome of mothers and an inspiring example for others. She was devoted to her children and touched the lives of many others. She created a home where everyone felt loved and valued. For a briefperiod, she worked for the Atlanta Public School System and Atlanta Medical Center; however, the majority ofher life she worked as a homemaker and a dedicated mother.
As a young girl, Maudestine gave her life to Christ. She was a member of Cascade United Methodist Church for over 40 years, actively serving as a communion steward, member of the United Methodist Women and the Women's Usher Board. She loved her pastors, attended choir concerts and supported numerous church events.
She is survived by three sons, Dr. Wilbur E. Garner, Jr., (MonteCarlo), Mr. Curtis L. Garner, sr. (Keya) ofSt. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Mr. Alfred L. Garner, Sr.; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Garner Williams (Lucius), Mrs. Brenda Garner Burgman (Jeffrey); nine grandchildren, Mr. Alfred L. Garner II, Mrs. Raquel Triplett (ElHajj),Mr. CurtisL. Garner,Jr. (Nikki), Ms. Brittany Garner, Mr. Mark Garner ofDallas, Texas, Lucius Williams, IV, Gabrielle Williams, Tori Scott ofSt. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Christina Francois ofSt. Thomas, Virgin Islands ; three great-grandchildren, Raina Triplett, El Hajj Triplett II, Alayah Garner; special relatives Ms. Janice Minor Jones, Ms. Ruth Minor Crawford, Mr. ].B. Amos, and Ms. R. Davytrice Garner; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends; and classmates of the Henry McNeal Turner High School class of 1954.

We have been overwhelmed with your expressions of love and outreach through telephone calls, flowers, food, visits, cards, texts, prayers and other acts of kindness shown in honor of our bereavement. The family is truly grateful and words cannot express our sincere gratitude.
