Kevin Jerome Gailes was born July 15, 1980 in Pontiac, Michigan. He departed this life May 3, 1997.
He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He was baptized and was a member of Norman Grove Baptist Church.
He attended Sequoyah Jr. High School where he was a member of the band. As an "A" student, Kevin was also a member of Cross Keys High School Marching Band. He was on the football team of Sequoyah where he received a trophy. Kevin was on the Midway Knicks basketball team, 1992-94.
As a Sophomore, he attended Cross Keys High School where he played baseball and was on the wrestling team, winning a medal, ribbon and trophy. Kevin was a studious hardworking young man. He worked as a caddy at the East Lake Country Club. He also worked for Aramark at the Olympic Stadium during the 1996 Olympic Games. He was a Junior at Southwest Dekalb High School, where he was a band student with the Marching Panthers who recently traveled to France.
Kevin had applied to numerous colleges and planned to major in music. At the time of his death, he was returning home from work at Turner Field Stadium.
He is survived by his dear mother, Alice; father, Orbie Jerome Gailes, Detroit, Michigan; dear sisters, Monica Willingham-Lowe, Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Kimberly Gailes, Southfield, Michigan; one niece, Brianna Lowe; grandmother, Mrs. Pauline Parks; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
' For above all principality, andpower, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under hisfeet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.
Kevin, Oh! Kevin where have you gone. You slipped away from us to take your seat around God's throne. Kevin, Oh Kevin, we will never forget you, so we will stay strong, for it won't be long, we will be with you seated around God's throne.
