The late J. B. FRIDAY was born January 5, 1905 to Ben and Mart!ta Friday, in Winston County, Mississippi. He was one of nine children. He received his education in Noxapater, Mississippi.
He accepted his ~ope in Christ while yet a young man and continued to devote his life to God's service. He was a member of the True Light Baptist Church of Cleveland, Mississippi for forty years, during this time he served as a Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher where he received many awards and plaques.
He worked on the railroad for many years, he was a great farmer until his health began to fail him.
He moved to Chicago, Illinois to be close to some of his children. He immediately united with the Maryland Avenue Baptist Church where he also served from his residency and wheelchair. He was very active as a devotion leader at the Cojunaze Nursing Center. His faith in God was a constant source of strength to his family during his il!i.~MS. i:is iove and work for God
was his happiness in life.
He departed this life August 14, 1984 at 6:40 P.M. at Oak Forest
Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories five daughters, Annie of Detroit,
Michigan, Gladys, Christine and Eva all of Chicago; Heresteen of Vallejo,
California; seven sons, Jessie of Alexandria, Louisiana, Dr. Earnest Friday
of Miami, Florida, Levergne of Hammond, Indiana, Johnnie, of Kileen, Texas, Milo and Tommie of C!t!~ag~, Jnlm Fitzgerald of Cleveland,
Mississippi; one step-son Milton, of Cleveland Mississippi; thirty-nine grandchildren; thirty-one :rreat-grnnrlchildren; and fi.ve great-s ;,~ ':4t
grandchildren; one hrother, John Friday; one sister, Nan, o! timphis, Ten-
nessee; five daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; cousim~, ~ __c!fS' a etts,' =:;eces,
