God looked around His garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tiredface. He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful,
1-1e always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine. "
It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone,
For part ofus went with you, The day God called you home.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Evelyn Freeman Merckson was born to the late Deacon Arthur and Deaconess, Lucy Mary Freeman. Her parents wanted life to be a haven for growth and prosperity; thus, they taught her many valuable lessons on how to live as a Christian in a very challenging world.
Much of Evelyn's life centered around the Church where she participated in various services at Greater Mount Vernon Baptist Church with her father and her Cherokee Indian mother for over 40 years. There were songs like "I Trust in God," and "Amazing Grace" that inspired her to move forward to visiting the sick in nursing homes, nursing the sick in hospitals, and helping the untutored.
Her education included Booker T. Washington High School, Atlanta Area Technical School in Nursing, DeKalb Junior College, Marsh Draughons College, and Primerica University, in areas of Business Administration, and Financial Services and Investments.
Evelyn Freeman was married for many years until her husband's demise.
Evelyn's skills and dedication were showcased in her work ethics as well. She served as the Director of Admissions at Healthcare Training Institute, in Emory University Hospital's Three G Special Care Unit, as well as in Nursing Services at Saint Joseph Hospital, taught (ESL) English-as-a-Second-Language, a Georgia program for Refugee. Guiding the public in understanding the importance of financial services, she was employed by Primerica Financial Service as a Regional Vice President where she held her own franchise for many years, receiving many honor and awards as a Financial Advisor. Evelyn was proud to serve as Manager of God's Seeds of Joy, a well-known gospel group founded by her daughter Cynthia.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory: four loving children; Patrina Merckson, Sheila Nesbitt (Willie), Cynthia Julks (Deangelo) and Joseph Timothy Jones; five Sisters; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; her aunt Alma Victor, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The legacy of Evelyn Freeman Merckson will forever live in the hearts of her family.
