Evelyn Carnell Franklin was born on June 23 to the Sophia M. Gaston Carnell and the late Henry G. Carnell, Sr. in Henry County, Georgia. She was called to her eternal home on June 19,2010.
She began her Christian commitment early in life at the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Later in life, she joined the Red Oak United Methodist where she was involved and as active as possible while she was able.
Her beloved husband, Aaron Eli Franklin, preceded her in death in 1997. He was the apple of her eye. To this union one lovely daughter, Sandra, was born. Evelyn loved to cook and bake. She strongly encouraged her "San" to cook, saying "you know you got ..,.....__...,. to cook." She was known for her famous "7-Up Cake." Everyone who tasted it, loved it. The Kitchen Crew of Red Oak eventually found out how famous her cake really was.
She loved being in the mix of all church events and truly loved her "Pastor Fert." She was soft spoken, for the most part, and many people called her "Mama". Her favorite saying was "God is good," and she loved the Lord and "all His daily benefits."
Her legacy of life includes her daughter, Sandra Pye; her son-in-law, Frederick Pye; her grandson, Jamaar Franklin Pye; and her granddaughter, Aryn Noell Pye. She also leaves her mother, Sophia M. Carnell; three sisters, Dorothy Thomas (Alton), Rosa Lawrence, and Joann Thurman (Elbert); one brother, Henry G. Carnell, Jr. to cherish her memory. Two of her siblings preceded her in death, Ethlene Nunnally and Eldrict Carnell.
She will truly be missed but her memories will live on. Mama we love you but now the struggle is over. Rest in the Lord's arms and rejoice with Daddy Aaron.
