OBITUARY
Mr . George H . Fambro , Sr . was born to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ceasar Fambro on October 20, 1908 in Bibb County, Macon, Georgia . He received his education in the public schools of Bibb County and latere studied at Hampton Institute in Virginia . Further studey was done at Savannah State College, Savannah , Georgia . Mr. Fambro, who was initially a Carpenter / Cabinet Maker was a charter member and the only Finan c ial Secretary of Carpenters Local #1222, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He held the position as Financial Secretary until the organization was merged with Local #144 of the same organization . In 1938, he began his caree r in education in the field of Vocational Training at Hudson High School. He continued in the teaching field at Ballard-Hudson High School, where he was head of the Vocational Department . Mr. Fambro retired from Ballard -Hudson in 1971 , however, he continued to remain active in the field of Education by serving as a consultant at t he Dudley Hughes Vocational Schoo l. As a dedicated and active mem ber of Holsey Temple C.M .E. Church, he served a superintendent of the Sunday School, Trustee, Stew ard, Choir member and devoted leader of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Fambro was also active in various civic organizations icnluding the Boy Scouts of America, where he earned the silver beaver, which is the highest award . One of his outstanding contributions was the development of Camp Pine Lake. An Elk, he was past Exalted Ruler of Melba Lodge #555. Left to cherish his memories are a devoted wife of 38 years, Mrs. Ezelle Jones Fambro; a daughter, Mrs. Dia nn e Fambro N ew son of Peo ria, Illinois; a son, George Henry , Jr. of Col um bia, Ma ryland; a nephew , Mr. Theodore Giles of Lo ng Isl and, New York; a son-i n-la w; a daughter-in-law, four gran d children ; a host of other relatives and friends . Those who k new Mr. Fambro will remember him as an outstanding teacher and christian gentleman who had a direct, positive influence upon the lives of his former pupils; and the love and respect of all wh orl' h e ca me 1n contact .
