The Victory Wa.1 Won: March~ 2000
"Life is not a race but a journey to be savored each step of the way ... and after this journey has ended your Heavenly one begins . . .Praise the Lord."
On Saturday, March 4, 2000, the soul of Mother !nest Cameron Ellison, left her earthly abode, to claim her promised mansion in Heaven. Jesus promised that "where I am, there ye will be also." All
those whose lives Mother touched will never be the same, and all are pleased to know that for her to live was Christ, but for her to die is gain. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints."
, Psa. 116:15. Born in Hogansville, Georgia (Troup County), June 15, 1913, she was the sixth child of twenty,
four children born to the parentage of the late Mr. Ben and Mrs. Len Reed Cameron. Twenty, one
of these siblings have preceded her in death. Mother Ellison obtained her education in the Troup County School System. She along with her
parents were brought up in the Methodist faith.
In March 1930, she was married to Bishop C.H. Ellison and four loving and caring children were
born to this union. One son, Elder Dennis Ellison, preceded her in death. Mother Ellison was a supportive wife, a sacrificial devoted mother, and a proud loving grandmother. "The quickest way to receive love is to give love." Her home was always a warm loving place to everyone, unconditionally. If one needed a home or food, Mother Ellison, with her kind hospitality, would welcome them into their home. Her outreach extended into many other areas of the community and church. Cooking was her passion, for she had a secret, for baking rolls, pound cakes and peach cobblers. She gave evidence of creative ability. She could sew and design her own clothes in earlier years, and sew for
others without great fanfare. The church was a significant part of her life. During adulthood, she transferred her membership
and was baptized into the Overcoming Church of God. She loved the church, supported and served it faithfully all her life. Mother Ellison was a loyal, sacrificial, pastor's wife, traveling with him to many other churches, conferences, and various other Christian functions. She lived her life by God's rules. Mother Ellison always stood on the side of what is right and exemplified the best of Christian
womanhood at all time. She was a life member of Dalton Lodge #230, O.E.S., a former member of
the Woman's Community Club, and was the General Mother over all Overcoming Churches of God. When endowed with vigorous health she worked for the Bandy and Herron families. For a while
she worked in the Emery Street School Cafeteria, and at Hamilton Medical Center in housekeeping. Mother Ellison was well known and respected in many areas and communities. She will be remembered as one whose loving, Christ, like spirit touched the lives of all she knew. This world is a better place because of the gifts, grace, and spirit of Mother Ellison. She had an inexhaustible supply
of love, patience, and understanding for her family and others. Survivors are her daughter and son,in,law, Elder Odess<1 (James Henry) Taylor, two sons and
daughters,in,law, Mr. Charlie H. Ellison, Jr., Mrs. Anna Ellison of Dalton, Georgia, Mr. Willie H. (Eunice) Ellison, one sister, Mrs. Sally Kate Smith, and one brother, Mr. Richard Cameron, all of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
