Dear Family and Friends,
Please be advised that I have moved. I received a call from God the other day, and he informed me that my new home was complete.
I knew that my mansion needed some finishing touches and that Jesus Christ had to inspect it and give me final approval. On the morning of July 1, 2013, He let me know that my mansion was complete and that I could move in. So He told me to go ahead and change my address.
Well, my new home is finished and what a sight to behold! It is located on an exclusive estate behind a beautiful pearly white gate. Of course, you know the streets are paved with gold and everyday is Sunday, just like you've been told!
There's peace, joy, and happiness here, no pain, no heartache, strife or discontentment; only sweet serenity. I can dine at the Father's bountiful table and sing in a Heavenly Choir. And best of all, my Heavenly Father is here in all His Glory, and oh yes, I have my own designer here who has fitted me with my own white robe. Trees of fruit grace my garden here and I can walk and talk with my Father without a worry or a care.
I can go on and on about my new home, but instead I am going to pray that you get to move here yourself one day. But, before I go, let me give you my new address:
In Care of God Lafayette Edwards 828 Heavenly Circle (Between Hallelujah Blvd. & Glory to God Lane) God's City, Heaven 77777
P.S. I don 't have a telephone, but you can always
call on God. Ifyou don 't know his number,
read your bible, it 's listed on every page.

Your bright star twinkled its eye and you left us. You have left us a beautiful memory; a sorrow too great to be told. But to those ofus who loved and lost you, your memories will never grow old. What a legacy!
Lafayette Edwards, was born December 30, 1932 to the late James and Mable Shepard Edwards in Greene County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geardlyne Dunm and Sudie Edwards, one brother, William Edwards. He passed to a more peaceful and serene world on July 1, 2013. Lafayette spent his early days in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
Learning Christian principles in the home at an early age, he soon joined Invitation A.M.E. Zion Church. He held the following positions, Chairman of the Trustee Board, member of the Male Chorus, Sunday School member, Class Leader, served on the Building Committee, member of the Improvement Association, Life member of Summer Enrichment Program, Member of the NAACP, served on the Pitt and Greene County Board, member of the Farm Bureau Association of Greene County, an officer of Public Education Association and supported all church activities and barbecue master for all church functions.
Lafayette, "Big Fate" as he was fondly called, was a retired, self employed farmer of 58 years. He attended and received his formal education in Greene County Public School and later graduated from Greene County Training School.
He is survived by the love of his life of 61 years: Mercie Swinson Edwards of the home. To this union, they were blessed with six children: Leonard Earl Edwards (Linda) of Wilson, NC, Cynthia Wilson (Kenneth) of Raleigh, NC, Lafayette Edwards, Jr. (Brenda) of Ellenwood, GA, CaSandra Edwards of Decatur, GA, Rhonda Brown (Reggie) of Raleigh, NC and Christopher Edwards of Selma, NC. The apple of his eyes, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One brother: Eddie C. Edwards of Washington, DC; sisters-inlaw: Mallie Smith of Goldsboro, NC, Edwina Exum (Lehman) of Kinston, NC, Wanda Burt (Charles) ofVista, CA, Jackie Parks (Wilbert) of Snow Hill, NC, Barbara J. Swinson of Snow Hill, NC; brothers-in-law: Henry Swinson, Jamaica, NY and Charles Swinson (Shirley) of Charlotte, NC; his Godmother, Bessie Mae Yelverton of Wilson, NC; several nieces and nephews, including Gloria and Timothy who he helped to raise; a special friend, who was like a brother to him, Alton Dixon of Snow Hill, NC. Also words cannot express our special gratitude to Toni Waters, who loved and cared for our father as her own; and to Carolyn Epps, his caregiver, who he thought of as a daughter; and a host of cousins, including a special cousin, Jean Edwards of Goldsboro, NC, other family and friends.

Words are inadequate to express the gratitude that we feel towards all of our family and friends who have considered us during our bereavement. To say a simple thanks seems far too little for all the wonderful expressions of love and sympathy extended during this time, when we needed you most. We thank you for your prayers, visits and all acts of kindness shown to us. You have our sincere wishes that God will richly bless
you and mercy will rest upon each of you. Also special recognition to his caregivers.
To The Family
As we meditate on the mysteries oflife and death, and what the vast eternity may hold, like a bright and shining light comes the knowledge ofthe promises of God. The darkness disappears ... we are content, for with God, all things are right.
