January 31, 1948 -September 28, 2000
<rrarol.e J\.lston ~clfols was born in Macon, Georgia on January 31, 1948 to
Joseph King Alston, Jr. and Mamie Belle Alston. On Thursday, September 28, 2000 our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sent an angel to call her home.
Carole attended Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina where she received her degree in Psychology. She became a librarian and later an elementary school teacher. She developed an avid love for children and was a mentor to young teenagers from Europe, California and Arkansas to Georgia. When she stopped working, love became her full time occupation.
She married Curtis L. Echols, Jr., a United States Army Officer and later Baptist Preacher, which allowed her to travel extensively and spread her spiritual gift to so many. Carole confessed her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when she was just ten years old and was baptized at Memorial Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia. Her commitment to Christ and His church was unwavering.
She loved being a mother, grandmother and housewife. Carole always cared deeply for people .. youth in particular, reading her bible, listening to her daily noon spiritual radio program, shopping for her grandchildren and a good TV comedy. Carole was devoted to her husband whom after knowing for only 90 days, were inseparable for 31 years. She spoiled her children and absolutely adored her two "grands." Carole was an intelligent, sensitive, compassionate and caring first class lady. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Rev. Curtis L. Echols, Jr., Assistant Pastor, Providence Missionary Baptist Chu~ch; two children, Carole Marie McNeal and 1st Lt. Curtis L. Echols, III; a son--in--law, Derek McNeal; a daughter--in--law, Ayana Echols; two grandchildren, Doria Austin McNeal and Alexus Brijette Echols; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph King Alston of Macon, Georgia; two brothers, Orain Alston and Joseph King Alston, III, both of Detroit, Michigan; two nephews, Joseph K. Alston, IV and Orain Alston, Jr.; one niece, Rhonda Alston; a loving special friend, Muriel Durley; several cousins; her Providence family, and other cherished friendships.
