.1\tb. ~quilla ~mtnanUt{ l\unn, ~r. was born July 10, 1910, in Rutledge, Georgia to the
late Mr. Thomas Jackson, Sr. and Sallie Jackson Dunn during a revival that his parents were attending. He was born one of six children: Fred, Jessie, Thomas Jr. , Emily and Annie Bell preceded him in death.

He received his early childhood education in the Greene County School System and attended Howard and Washington High Schools in Atlanta. Rev. Dunn was drafted into the United States Army on March 22, 1943. During World War II his tour of duty included Germany, France, Normandy, and Czechoslovakia where he served as a medic. He received an honorable discharge. He was a licensed tailor and former entrepreneur of the Ever Ready Cafe that was a "hot spot" during the 1940's. He attended and graduated from the then renown Blayton School of Accounting. He later attended Morris Brown College and the Interdenominational Theological Center.

On March 17, 1943, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Thelma Smith Dunn and to this union was born four (4) children: Aquilla Emmanuel Jr., Barbara Jean, Cynthia Louise, and Ricky Jerome. Rev. Dunn was a devoted and faithful father not only to his own birth children but of countless numbers of persons whose lives he touched. He was affectionately known as "Daddy Dunn" and "Father Dunn." He was a long time employee of the Norman's of Women' s Apparel of Buckhead and was a confidant to the employer and employees there.

Rev. Aquilla Emmanuel Dunn, Sr. was a dedicated, faithful, loyal, inspirational, motivational and useful minister and member of the Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church all of his life. His service for the Lord inclcded: President of Usher Board Number 2, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the H. Jackson Chorus, Choir Number 2 member, Male Chorus member, Charter member of Ulric George 50-year Club, Down Home Club member, TMC Service Guild member, Minister to the Sick and Shut-ins; because of his honesty and excellent record keeping ability, he served as treasurer for various organizations of the church. He was on the Finance Committee. He was one of the faithful members who were responsible for our church ' s movement and growth by serving on the Movement Committees that moved Turner Monumental A.M.E._Church from Randolph Street, N.E. to Boulevard Drive, S.E. and to our present beautiful edifice. He was known for going to the Throne of God praying for our sick and shut-in members during the Altar Call on Sunday services. He will be remembered for his Bible teachings, paraphrasing, commentating, and understanding of the Holy Scriptures. He was known as the "Walking Living Bible."

He leaves to cheris his fond memories, a loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Thelma Smith Dunn, 4 devoted children, Mr. Aquilla E. Dunn Jr. , Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Price (Barbara D.), Mrs. Cynthia L. DunnZachery and Mr. Ricky J. Dunn, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, Mrs. Daisy D. Johnson, Orangeburg, S.C., and Mrs. Odessa Jackson, Oakland, California, 1 devoted nephew, Mr. Joseph Stanley Perry, 1 devoted daughter-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Dunn and a host of other relatives and friends.
