Obituary
"Take My Hand While I Run This Race for I Don't Want to Run This Race in Vain"
Nathaniel Drake, Jr. began his race on January 25th, 1940 in Atlanta, GA. To the late Nathaniel Drake, Sr. and Fannie Mae Johnson. He was the oldest of four children born to this union.
He accepted Jesus into his life at an early age. He was a junior deacon , and sang with the Allen Gospel Singers. He rendered many years of service to the Lord in his youth.
He attended Atlanta Public Schools where he ran track his senior year and graduated from Price High in 1957. Upon his graduation Nathaniel was guided and trained to be a butcher. He earned the title of "Master Butcher" as he worked his way up in the meat departments of Colonial Foods , Big Star, A&P and Ingles. He was an active part of the (UFCW) United Food Commercial Workers Union for many years.
He was known for being the first president of the Black Buck Hunting Club and his skills on the BBQ grill. He took pleasure in fish and hunting with loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children Passini Nathaniel (Toni), VaiDemarest Dequitta , Tivoli Marsala , and four grandchildren from his first marriage to Sylvia Lovelace (deceased). He was married to his second wife, Sherrie Love , in 1983. She survives , as does their children , Natalie Jenella (Marco), Nathaniel W.J. (Caroline), Sher'Eunfce Zoellen , Sophia Mercedes, Johnathan Emmanuel and five grandchildren. A host of relatives and loved ones are also holding dear to his memory.
