Home Going Celebration for Carolyn Dorsey "Carmelita", October 14, 1942 - September 13, 2014, Friday, September 19, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Avenue, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236, Bishop Michael Canion, Officiating

God saw you were getting weary, so He did what He thought was best.
He came and stood beside you and whispered, "Come and Rest",
You gave no one a last Farewell, not even a goodbye,
You were gone before We knew it and only God knows why.
God saw the road was getting rough, The hills were hard to climb;
He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered "Peace Be Thine" The weary hours, the days ofpain
The sleepless night are passed The ever striving worn out frame
Has found Sweet rest at last!

On October 14, 1942, God gave to the late Mr. Samuel A. Pitts, Sr. and Mrs. Nellie Rebecca Pitts, a daughter and they named her Carolyn "Carmelita" Dorsey. She was blessed with a loving and fulfilling life. On September 13, 2014 the Lord called Carmelita home.
Mrs. Dorsey received her early education at Summer Hill High School and matriculated at Fort Valley College where she received her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. She devoted over 35 years to educating, mentoring and making a difference in young minds of the students within the Atlanta Public School System.
Carmelita was united in marriage to Billy Dorsey and was blessed with three wonderful children, Billy Dorsey, Christal Dorsey and Cekeisha Mathis.
Carmelita was preceded in death by: her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel & Nellie Pitts; and brother, Samuel A. Pitts, Jr.
Carmelita leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Billy Dorsey; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Mia Dorsey a daughter, Christal Dorsey; a daughter and son-in-law: Cekeisha and Terrell Mathis; three grandchildren, Chandler Dorsey, Khyla Kizzie and Christopher Belt; a host of loving extended family and many dear friends.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
