POUGHKEEPSIE Nettie Smith Dixon, 94, was a long time resident ofPoughkeepsie, formerly ofNorth Carolina, died Sunday, 1 July 9, 2006 at River Valley Care Center. Mrs. Dixon was a retired licensed practical nurse, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Knitting Guild ofAmerica and very devoted to the Second Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie and multiple churches in North Carolina. Born Nov. 17, 1911 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter ofthe late Herbert L. and Ollie Penn Smith. On June 1, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, she married Lloyd James Dixon. Mr. Dixon died in 1974. Survivors include her son, Marshall Dixon of Las Vegas, NV, four daughters : Ursula Jamison ofPoughkeepsie, Mary D. Atkins of Wappingers Falls, Lorraine D. Lawson of Semora, NC, Candice Dixon ofStone Mountain, GA, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After lvlama watched the movie, Imitation ofL~fe she desired a funeral with a horse drawn carriage. In lieu ofa horse drawn carriage, today 's caravan will celebrate Mama's .fami~v tree. As was the custom in the early 1900s, Mama often visited and had picnics
with her family in this cemetery. Each tombstone with a redflag denotes the loved ones listed above. Flowers will be
placed on each gravesite to commemorate Mama 's legacy.
