CHRISTIANS FOR CHANGE BAPTIST CHURCH 2110 Bethsaida Road Riverdale, GA 30296
Reverend Michael W. Baldwin, Pastor
And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from
their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Revelation 14:13

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days ofher life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth afield, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afra id of the snow for her household:for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law ofkindness. She looketh well to the ways ofher household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:10-31

Proverbs 31:10-31 asks the question "Who can find a virtuous woman?"
Mother Jessie Mae Cox Dixon's life, which began on June 14, 1921 gave a glance of at least some of the answers to that question.
Jessie Mae's early childhood development within the Christian home of her late parents, Deacon Jessie Frank and Mrs. Omie C. Cox paved the way for such a wonderful woman. Reared with her eight siblings, being the third eldest, gave her an excellent opportunity to practice her leadership skills.
Believing that studying the ways of Christ and getting a good education was definitely a must. She joined Friendship Baptist Church in College Park, Georgia at a very early age. She entered and graduated in 1939 from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1967 she became employed by North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company which led to a twenty-one year career. Jessie Mae wanted to do everything she could to make life insurance available to blacks in the areas of College Park and the entire south side of Atlanta. Working as a Sales Representative she received many prestigious awards: North Carolina Mutual NIA (1967) Best All Around; (1970) Leading O.L. ; (1977) MVP; (1977) NIA WK 3rd Place; (1979) Best O.L. NIA; and (1979) Agent of the Year.
In 1944 she met and married Melvin Dixon and together they nurtured two children, Maria Antoinette and Melvin Bernard. Continuing to trust in God' s unchanging Word, she made sure that her children stayed grounded in the church and eyes focused on education.
Jessie was, from her upbringing, very active in her church. At Friendship Baptist Church she was a member of the Matron's Society, The Gospel Choir, The Sunday School, and other miscellaneous committees. In 1995 she joined Christians for Change Baptist Church of Riverdale, Georgia. At Christians for Change Baptist Church she was a member of the Matrons, The Mothers Board, Senior Choir, and the Senior Sunday School Class. It was her voice that sang out when Christians for Change Baptist Church was yet unborn but placed in our hearts through her words "Let's start our own church". With that faith in Christ Jesus and with other believers, Christians for Change Baptist Church will celebrate its twenty-second anniversary this month.
On June 6, 2017, Mother Jessie Mae Dixon entered into eternal rest at the age of95 .
Mother Dixon showed compassion and love to those you met and knew. Her spirit will truly live on.
