In Loving :Memory Of:Marguerite
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Irma Marguerite Jenkins Dixon, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, made her transition from this life to her eternal life on Saturday, November 28, 2009.
Marguerite, as she was known by most, was born to Irma Slaughter and Andrew W. Jenkins on December 22, 1927, in New York City. Although she was an only child, Marguerite was raised in Harlem and the South Bronx with four first cousins who recognized each other .__ _...__ _ _..... as siblings. Her sisters, Evelyn Watts, Josephine Smith and Ceola Cooper and her brother, James T. Watts, all preceded her in death.
..----~--.. Marguerite graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx. At a young age ...__ _ _.....~ Marguerite married Clifford Edward Brooks and from this union her children Clifford and Yvonne were born.
In 1952, she met Walter Dixon, the love of her life. On December 22, 1956, Walter and Marguerite were wed. Walter and Marguerite were committed first and foremost to their family, and created a ....._ _ __. wonderful home life. They invested heavily in their children and raised them to be responsible adults. Walter and Marguerite were sweethearts and life partners and were ..._._......_ _ _ _..__......_ _..... married for over fifty-two years.
Marguerite was a private, yet giving person. She was an elegantly dignified and lovingly disciplined wife, mother and friend. She exuded strength and dependability. Many, young and old, sought her wise counsel as she was genuinely caring, insightful, and full of wisdom. She was a supportive and loving caregiver to children and elderly alike. Her caregiving services were widely sought after by parents.
After retiring from Allstate Insurance Company in 1985, where she was employed for many years, Walter and Marguerite moved to Decatur, Georgia. She inspired several of her friends to join her in her ancestral home of Georgia.
Marguerite was well known for her love of crocheting and for her creativity and production of baby layette sets. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and raising pet dogs and cats. She will always be remembered for her cooking and baking-the Sock-It-To-Me Cake, the Yum Yum Cake, and the Japanese Fruit Pie, in particular.
She was a dedicated member of Chapel Hill Harvester Church in Decatur, Georgia and labored with the heart of a servant in the feeding outreach program and Sunday bulletin preparation.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Carol Cottrell. The last of her generation, she leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Walter Dixon, her children, Arty. Clifford A. Brooks and Yvonne Brooks-Little, a beloved daughter-in-law, Carolyn S. Brooks, her stepson Walter W. Dixon (wife, Mabel), her grandchildren, Rev. Kobi Little, Malaika Brooks Dom (husband, Marcus), Jumanne Little, Clifford E. To those I love and those who love me, when I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourselfto me with tears, be thankfulfor our beautiful years. I gave to you my love. You can only guess
how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me,
ifgrieve you must, then let your griefbe comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part.
So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on so ifyou need me, call, and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And ifyou listen with your heart, you 'II hear all my
love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile, and say:
"Welcome Home, Welcome Home"!

Friends are earthly blessings when they respond in moments of despair. Our family will be forever grateful to God for giving us faithful friends during the passing of our loved one. Your expressions of kindness and thoughtfulness were sources of strength and divine consolation. Special thanks to Rhonda Hargrove and Carolyn Mitchell for all your compassionate and professional caregiving; also, special thanks to Dr. Monica Willis Parker for exemplifying the best of the Medical Profession in caring for Marguerite. May God grant unto each of you His richest blessing.
