Officiating
Mrs. Rosa White Derricotte, affectionately known as "Sister," was born in Stockbridge, Georgia on September 5, 1922 and moved to Atlanta, Georgia at a very young age with her family. Sister surrendered her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a long-time member of the First Church of God In Christ (Atlanta, Georgia); and later became a member of Fountain of Hope Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sister was educated in the Atlanta Public School System and a proud graduate of the historical Booker T. Washington High School.
Mrs. Derricotte retired from the State of Georgia after 40 years of service as a laboratory assistant with the Glassware Preparation Section of the Georgia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Mrs. Derricotte encouraged her children to pursue education past a high school diploma; and she was quite proud of them in their educational accomplishments.
Sister was a quiet spirit that enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook and her specialties were sweet potato pies and macaroni and cheese.
She was a superb fundraiser and worked tirelessly with the March of Dimes and Easter Seals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Lewis White and Mrs. Annie Lovett White; husband, Mr. Homer Derricott; daughter, Mrs. Shirley W. Ellison; and son, Mr. Homer L. Derricott.
On Sunday, August 7, 2016, God called Sister to her final resting place as a faithful steward and servant of God.
Sister leaves in the triumph of life and death her daughter, Ms. Julia White Derricotte; sons, Mr. Eric J. Belle and Mr. Horace H. Derricotte; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Brenda Derricott; grandchildren, Mrs. Alicia Derricott (Columbus) Evans, Ms. Sonia Ellison, Mrs. Rosalind Derricott (Steve) Williams, Ms. Angel Belle, Ms. Monica Derricott Jackson, and Mr. Anthony (Enid) Derricott; great-grandchildren, Elexia N.
