Just up the street, a mere thirty years ago, Yolisiua (Lisa) was born on October 25, 1982 to Harold and Mary Holmes-Denson. She was the flrst of two grandchildren of Charlie and Tenise Holmes (both deceased).
A deep love and faith in God allowed Yolisiua to enjoy life fully even with the challenges of sickle cell anemia. She loved her family, friends and her church dearly.
Her educational experiences included: graduation from the DeKalb County School System (Cedar Grove High School, 2000); Bachelor of Science (Criminal Justice-forensics, 2008, American Intercontinental University/Dunwoody, GA); studies in education (Piedmont College, Athens, GA 2012); and preparing to take the Law School Aptitude Test.
Often Yolisiua worked as a substitute teacher and Mary Kay consultant, but her most rewarding experience was as an administrative assistant/activist with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
Yolisiua demonstrated a spirit to serve by volunteering and mentoring for many organizations. An avid lover of the arts, she was a passionate and accomplished musician (flutist) with The William Grant Still Memorial Youth Orchestra. She also played oboe and piano. For such a young lady, Yolisiua was "living the life", traveling extensively stateside and abroad, reading, writing, bungee jumping, motorcycling, screaming at the scary rides and shows at Six Flags, ice and roller skating, hunting, shopping and showing off high fashions.
God called His loving spirit, Yolisiua, home on November 16, 2012. Through the power of Jesus in her, light was brought into some dark places and it will be sorely missed.
Yolisiua leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents, Mary Holmes-Denson, Stone Mountain, GA and Harold Denson, Columbus, OH; brothers, Matthew Denson, Statesboro, GA and Christopher Denson, Atlanta, GA; grandmother, Millie Denson, Atlanta, GA; special friend, Linton "Sonny" Jonhston and treasured pet, Prince, both of Athens, GA; a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives; special cousins, Clarie Mosley and Keila Culbreath; mentee, Andrea Harris, Gainesville, GA and best friend Alyxis Wynder.
When God sawyou getting tired, and a cure was not to be He put his arms aroundyou, and whispered come to me He didn't like whatyou went through, and he gaveyou rest
His garden must be beautifu~ He onfy takes the best
And when we sawyou sleeping, so peaceful andfree from pain We wouldn't wishyou back, to suffer that again
Todqy we sqy goodbye, and asyou takeyourfinal rest
That garden must be beautifu~ becauseyou are one of the best.

"Going Up Yonder"
Guess what?
You caught me smiling
and itfelt realgood!
A smile that came
forcefulfy from somewhere and ended up
"In Yo Face."
When I remember
the time, do I remember
the smile?
Yes, for whatyou said
was
more than snicker quality,
butyoujust snickered.
And, I sawy our sister smile too.
I did not see herface,
but I saw the pointing of her ears from the back of her head because
she likes to hide her smiles. Guess What? - - Babies like smiling
and know the magical effect of a smile.
So, I have decided that on my last day on this earth, I hope someone catches at least
one smile on my face.
A smile here, a smile there.
How many smiles a day.
gvrJ I hopeyou smileyour life aUiqy. j j
