Mother Gloriasteen Dawson was born on October 28, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John and Ruby Dawson. She departed this lift on Saturday,
April 27, 2013. She was preceded in death by her.firstborn daughter, Latrevia
Congenial Brown.
In her early years, Mother Dawson gave her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized andjoined the Rising Star Missionary 'Baptist Church. She then joined the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church, where Dr. R. L. White, Jr. is Senior Pastor. She was a member ofthe Senior Choir. She later joined the Fountain of Faith Christian Center Church, where her son, Reverend Jermaine Dawson served as Senior Pastor. At Fountain ofFaith, she sang in the Fountain of Faith Church Choir, served on the Mother's Board, the Kitchen Ministry, and the Hospitality Ministry. Mother Dawson loved the Lord and was found many times teaching and sharing her faith 14!ilh all around her.
Mother Dawson was in the 1967 graduating class at the old West Fulton High School (currently B.E.5: T Academy) in the Atlanta Public Schools. She was in the first ((African-Ame-rican'' graduating class at the school. She furthered her education and attended Atlanta Area Technical College. She worked proudly in the Human Resources Department at Grady Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 2011.
Mother Dawson loved her children, grandchildren, herfamily, and everyone she came into contact with. She was also loved and was a umother" for many young people. She had a heart ofgold and loved to serve and help others in need She was truly a ((quiet giant " and a woman oftremendous faith in the power ofGod. She truly lived by Jesus ' words in John 15:35, ((By this all will
know that you are My disciples, ifyou have love for one another. "
Mother Dawson leaves to cherish precious memories her children, Deidre Dawson, Reverend Jermaine (Tawf1:.jai) Dawson, and Matteo Dawson, and a nephew who she loved and caredfor as her son (Antoine Dawson); grandchildren, JarMichael Brown, Leonte Long, Tharren Martin, Tyrese Dawson, Phada Fitzpatrick, Ezekiel Brown; Terrell Dawson, Jamiya Dawson, Treay Dawson, Trenyce Dawson, Alexia West, Trinity Dawson, Tytiania Dawson, Mariana Dawson; sister, Demaria Dawson-Scott; nieces, Katrina (Omar) Skinner, Keisha (Lamont) Dent, and Sequita Scott; a play daughter, Lisa Benton; and a host ofgreat nieces} great nephews, cousins, andfriends.
