Delia J. Davis was born September 16, 1921 to the late William and Lila Jones. Delia also known to many as "Dee Dee" attended Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated and went on to college.
She later moved to Washington, D.C. where she began her career for the United States Government. There she met the man of her dreams, Delano Roosevelt Davis. Later, they married and had a son, the late Roosevelt Davis, Jr. She loved life and loved to entertain her friends. She also loved to travel. For all that knew her, Delia's greatest joy and love was her son, Roosevelt.
Delia entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2010. She leaves to cherish her memory, three siblings, Alice, Leon and Newshun Jones; three grandsons, Shaun, Justin and Duetch Davis; five great-grandchildren, Ashanti, Amari, Trinity, ShaDae and Shaudi Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, and many who Delia held close to her heart, Pam, Gwen, Sapphire, and a very special woman she loved as if her very own daughter, Sharina. She will be missed by many. Delia was a great mother, grandmother, and a great friend. She will be greatly missed.
I can only imagine what you did when you first woke up in Glory that Sunday morning. I know that it had to be a wonderful thing to stand in the presence ofthe Great King. To see all those you have lost here on earth and to now see them all again. To not have any worries and pain, no more crying, no more sorrow, and no more hurt. To be able to laugh and to know that everything now is ok. You're in God's presence and what a great feeling that must be to know that God's love will outlast all eternity. Embracing all that you have longed to see holding them tight forever this will be. You're in peace now looking down at us smiling and dancing and shouting and praising the Great King. No more worries, no more pain, no more crying, no more sorrow, no more hurt; just joy, love, gladness, peace and happiness for you all throughout eternity. I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
