I)m :Tree
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at close of day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now,
HE SET ME FREE!
August~~!t!:~:Jleldest FrederickS. Cruise was born on
child of Vivia and Henry Cruise in St
James, Jamaica. His formative years and early schooling was between St. James, St. Catherine and
Kingston. He was known affectionately as Freddy. He loved his mother very much and at an early
age became the man of the house when his father was away working. He did everything in his power
to help her and make life easier for her, something he continued to do until she passed later in life.
His lifetime of hard work began in Kingston where he worked at Desnoes & Geddes, Cremo and
as a winemaker with Mr. West of "Khus Khus" fame. He quickly realized that entrepreneurship is
the way to wealth and financial independence. So he opened his own photography business and some
taverns. He also invested in real estate owning a farm and some business places. He achieved home
ownership at a time and in an area where few people could hope to.
He migrated in 1957 to New York where he lived and worked for 40 years! After being quite the
ladies man and breaking a few hearts he married his wife Venice and lived happily with her over 36
years. Always ready for action and not afraid of change, in 1997 he migrated with his family to At-
lanta, wher.e he made his home. He quickly adjusted to life in Georgia and was very proud of his ex-
tensive vegetable garden. "Mr. Fix It" made use of his handiness and endeavored upon many home
improvement projects that were always brought to completion.
Anyone who met Freddy would never forget him, his charm, personality and wonderful sense of
humor were unforgettable. Freddy was always laughing, always had a pleasant disposition even in
the face of adversity. After God made Freddy, He threw out the mold. He was a phenomenal man!
He instilled his values into his children and grandchildren. He led by example and what an example
he was! Freddy helped so many people by his actions and advice. He truly embodied the phrase,
"Father knows best !" Freddy always spoke his mind even if you didn't want to hear it and whether
you agreed with him or not. You had to admit that he was right. Although he did not attend a univer-
sity, he obtained degrees from the School of Life. He had a Bachelor's in Hard Work with a Minor in
Self-Discipline. He went on to earn a Master's in Wisdom and Understanding. He also earned a Doc-
torate in Loving and Kindness.
He will be remembered as someone who was always on the go. He was the type of person who
went the extra mile; a peaceful person who was willing to step away from a confrontation. Freddy
never looked or acted his age. He was fearless; even going out into the most recent hurricane, much
to the consternation of his beloved baby daughter. He never let his age hinder him. As a matter of
fact, I don't think that he gave it a second thought.
Celebrate his life! Freddy's life was one of great happiness and should be celebrated as such. He
prided himself on being the mighty, fierce lion and he was indeed . Life with Freddy has been a real
experience. The support, direction, tolerance and most of all love was immeasurable.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Venice; his children, Orville, Audrey (Ashirah), Beverly,
Marcia, Karlene and Peter; his sisters, Gloria and Veryl; his brother, Ferley; thirteen grandchildren;
nieces; nephews; cousins; his brother of the heart, Uncle Mickey and many, many, many close
friends. REST WELL SWEET PRINCE!
