Ms. Jimmie Lola Cooper graced this earth on November 17, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the only child born to the late jazz musician Wilbert Calloway and Ruth Clay. Ms. Jimmie passed the mantle on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 1:05am, as she entered into eternal rest.
Ms. Jimmie was a graduate of the Atlanta Public School System, graduating from David T. Howard High School, class of 1950. She was an entrepreneur, as well as dedicating 21 years of service with General Motors Assembly Corporation. She was a dedicated worker, full of strength and wisdom.
Ms. Jimmie enjoyed reading her bible, attending church and listening to Lee Williams' song "Cooling Waters". One of her life's pleasures was attending his concert at the Griffin Auditorium. She also loved to be ' chauffeured around and shopping. Her favorite foods were fried fish, Oreo cookies, Lays plain potato chips and an ice cold Coke with a smile!
. She was not only an intellectual person, but always full of joy, laughter, ( kindness and compassion; especially for children. Ms. Jimmie never met a 1 stranger, always giving words of encouragement. She was willing to help
everyone. Her memories will continually be a light in our hearts.
Ms. Jimmie was the proud mother of five children: Deacon Eugene
(Torria) Tuggle, Rosa (Calvin) Mobley, Janice Green, Reverend Dion
, Smith, and Minister Annetti Anderson; ten grandchildren: Ebonee,
Ashley, Brandi, Jamal, Marques, DeAndre, Bryana, Brandon, Diez and
Solomon; eleven great-grandchildren: Marshae, Kaden, Asia, Aleia,
Marques Jr., Egypt, Stephan, Simeon, Saniyah, Ashton and Dexx; one
( aunt, Ernestine (Charles) Watson; one cousin, Johnnie Mae Harrison; four
( nieces and nephews: Lynn, Peggy, Rickie and Skipp Calloway; God
children: Eric Miller, Jerald Brilove and Angela Gates; and a host of
cousins, relatives and friends.
