' Mrs. Betsy Cooper was born in Twiggs County on ~ July 16, 1884 to John and Mary Jackson.
At an early age, she joined the New Hope Baptist "Church, Macon, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John Cooper.
After moving to East Point, Georgia in 1920, she united herself with the Siloam Baptist Church where she served and worked faithfully until her death on May 25, 1982. ,
Bessie Cooper, ~arned to love God, lived a full life, working with dignity and grace. She was loved and respected by her family, friends and those strangers she met. Her kind words inspired many. Through generous love and kind deeds, she shared herself with each of us~
In celebration of the life of Bessie Cooper, her inspirations to us might be expressed thusly,
"When I must ie.ave you for ~ little while, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years, But start bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name Live on and do all things the same Feed not your 1onliness on empty days But fill each working hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand ~n comfort and . cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near, And never, never be afraid to die, For r ~ am waiting for you in the sky."
