ohn Henry Conley was born on January 17, 1941, in Newn, Bakers County, Georgia to the late Mattie Freeman-Grant and John Henry Battles. He was the ftrst born child of three brothers and one sister.
In 1966, he was married to Sedora Gholston and later, married his loving wife, Lora Wilburn Conley in 1991. He departed this life on August 27, 2013.
John was baptized at an early age in Newton, Georgia. Upon relocating to Hartford Connecticut, he later joined Hopewell Baptist Church.
John attended East Baker High School in Newton, Georgia where he had an affinity for baseball. His love for baseball and many other sports followed him throughout the duration of his life. After many years of working as a successful insurance broker for John Hancock in Hartford, Connecticut, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992. He then became a member of Greenforest Community Baptist Church in 1993. In 1994, he began working as a Sales Consultant at Stone Mountain Chrysler Jeep and D odge, where he retired in 2008. His aspirations for culinary became a huge part of family gatherings. John's expressions of love were always shown with various desserts.
In the 1970's, he became a member of Masonic Lodge of Composition 22, where he received the 33rd and last degree in May of 1992.
He was preceded 1n death by one sister, Mary Brown and one brother, Benjamin Conley.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, John Dwayne (Tameka G.) Conley and Derry Lamont Conley, both of Orlando, Florida; two brothers, Jimmy Conley, Johnny Frank Conley, both of Orlando, Florida; stepchildren, Sharon (Arthur) Nunley, Sabrina Brown and Samuel G. Brown, all of Connecticut; grandchildren, Tishante, K.atrina, Jessica, Alexa, Johnathan, Justin, )aden and Noah; great-grandchildren, Alishia, Arianna, Areil; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
