Auverne "Vern" Collier was born on March 18, 1939 in Atlanta Georgia. She was the only child of Bennie Lee Collier who passed when Vern was only seven-years- old. She grew up in the home of her loving grandparents, Perlena Collier Wilson and Ben Collier. After seventy-four years, Vern departed this life on Tuesday, May 14,2013 at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Vern graduated from Henry McNeal Turner High School in 1957. She was employed by the Georgia Building Authority and later at King and Spalding Attorneys at Law from which she retired. During her retirement years, Vern participated in the Foster Grandparents Program, where she was a mentor for young people. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, shopping and traveling with friends and family.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined World Changers Church International and attended faithfully when her health would permit.
Vern leaves to cherish: her loving and devoted daughter, Nena Yvette Clark Geer; her grandson, Jonathan Asher Geer; and a host of cousins (Byrdsongs) and loyal friends.
