To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...
A Time to be Born... A sweet gentle spirit of love and laughter was born to Linda M. Compton and McArthur McLaughlin, Sr. on September 18, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana. "Micey," as she was affectionately called by family and close friends, was a kind, giving and trusting person with a magnetic personality that attracted many friends even at a very early age.
A Time for Every Purpose and Every Work Under the Sun .. . Yolanda was baptized as an infant at St. Matthias Catholic Church. She attended Lawrence E. Crocker Elementary School, Andrew Wilson Elementary School, Saint Stephen's Catholic High School, and was a 1981graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School. She was an outstanding athlete who excelled in tennis, basketball, softball, volleyball and track.
Yolanda continued her education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. While at LSU she was a Phi Beta Sigma Sweetheart.
A Time to Love. .. Yolanda was united in holy matrimony on December 5, 1992 to Lawrence Colin in New Orleans, Louisiana at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. To that blessed union, two children were born: Lawrence Tyler and Toren Leonard. Yolanda was a devoted wife and a loving, protective and doting mother. Spending quality time with her family was a high priority for her and they enjoyed many wonderful vacations together as a family. Cooking was one of her many talents and gumbo , and red beans and rice were her specialty. Yolanda loved eating crawfish. She visited New Orleans every spring and always made a visit to Castnet to purchase seafood!
A Time to Build Up ... Yolanda was always willing to serve others. This was demonstrated by her dedication to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver Court #276. She was a leader in the organization and was a past secretary. She established the Mardi Gras Ball and served as the chair of the event. While she was chair they raised a record high amount of funds. She was also an usher and a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Yolanda was very active in the P.T.A. at her son's school, and her favorite charities were Sisters By Choice and Susan G. Kamen Foundation.

A Time to Speak. .. She loved to talk, and in order to perfect her skills she joined the Toastmasters International Atlanta Chapter.
A Time to Laugh. .. Yolanda loved to laugh and was a true "WhoDat" fan who loved the New Orleans Saints. She was overjoyed and celebrated for weeks when they won the Super Bowl in 2010. She enjoyed everything related to the holidays, especially Christmas. Her home was like visiting a Christmas village. She also decorated for ALL of the major holidays.
A Time to Dance. .. At gatherings, when the second-line music started, Yolanda would be the first to the dance floor and often lead the line.
A Time to Embrace. .. Yolanda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard, Jr. and Ithone Herbert Compton; her grandfather, Lonnie W McLaughlin; and brother-in-law, Frank Colin. Yolanda's special memories will be cherished by her devoted husband, Lawrence Colin; sons, Lawrence Tyler and Toren Leonard; a loving mother, Linda Compton; her father, McArthur McLaughlin; grandparent, Aria Lundy McLaughlin; brother, McArthur McLaughlin, Jr.; sister, Monique McLaughlin Rouse (Mitchell); aunt, Gilda C. Williams; uncles, Renard Compton Sr. and Leonard Compton, III (Patricia); mother-in-law, Pearl C. Colin; brothers-in-law, Robert Nelson, Christopher Nelson (Monica), Kenneth Colin, Tyrone Colin (Joan), Louis Colin (Joyce), and Timothy Colin (Wanda); sister-in-law, Gloria Bailey (Waverley); godmother, Diana E. Bajoie; godfather, Edward James, and a host of other relatives and friends.

''JfTomorrow Starts Without Me"

When tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see,
Ifthe sun should rise andfind your eyes
allfilled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry The way you did today,
While thinking ofthe many things,
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, As much as I love you,
and each time that you think ofme, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready, In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible, That I was leaving you.
I thought ofall the yesterdays The good ones and the bad, I thought ofall the love we shared,
and all the fun we had.
IfI could re-live yesterday
just even for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I folly realized, That this could never be, For emptiness and memories, would take the place ofme.
And when I thought ofworldly things, I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought ofyou, and when I did, My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home,
When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity, And all I've promisedyou. Today your life on earth is past, But here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last, And since each day's the same way, There's no longingfor the past.
You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true, Though there were times
You did some things You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven And now at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand And share your life with me?"
So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think ofme, I'm right here, in your heart.
