Sister Queen Esther Coe t'ived and impacted our lives in a positive manner.
Sister Queen Esther Coe was born in Darlington County on August 9,
1932. She was the loving daughter of the late Carnell Coe and Willie Mae
Rhodes Coe. She was educated in the public schools of the Darlington Area.
Queen Esther grew up in a Christian home where God was the center of
their lives. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her savior and joined her
family home church, Cheny Grove Baptist. Years later she became a mem-
ber ofNathan Temple Holic1ess Church under the leadership of the late Pastor
D.L. Heard. She loved the Lord and it was evident by her attitude, behavior
and character. She served God by serving humanity.
She was a loving individual. She was family oriented and did everything
in her power to make life e sier for her loved ones. She was very considerate
and called family and friends on their birthday. She enjoyed exercising by
walking. She often said, "you have to keep moving." She was a lover of
beauty and her flowers and plants showed it.
Because of declining h~alth, she was relocated to be near her children.
She moved to Atlanta, Ge rgia in January 2009. While in Atlanta she and
her children shared many recious and bonding moments. She was able to
share her thoughts and values. She remained independent to the very end of
her life.
Queen Esther made ot ers feel special. She brought out the best in oth-
ers. She was kind, giving r nd loving, family and friends enjoyed being in her
presence.
Those who shared the j ys and sorrows of life and survive to cherish her
memories are: her two daughters, Daisy Hale and Valarette Coe both of At-
lanta, GA.; three grandchildren, Mandrill Arion, Damon Wilfred, III and
Nikki Giovanna Hale all of Atlanta, Ga.; two great grandson, Dalvin Hale
and Damon Hale, IV.; five sisters and three brothers, Martha Lee Moore of
Detroit, Michigan, Florrie Lee (LP) Lighty,. Willie Mae (Donald)_Daniels
both of Hartsville, SC, Ellen Meta (Frankie) Hannibal, David (Sarah) Coe
both of Washington, Peggy (Jerome) Brown or Newport News, Va., James
(Shirley) Coe of Connecticut and Carnell (Sabrina) Coe, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.,
many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, neighbors and friends.
Queen Esther was preceded in death by three sisters, Aileen Dowdy,
Mary Margareta Coe and Laura McQueen.
