Judge L. Coe was born on February 24, 1933 to the late Gideon and Dora Johnson Coe in Darlington, South Carolina. He was the 11th of 12 children. God, in his infinite wisdom, called him home to rest on Monday, May 14, 2012.
Judge was affectionately called "Bubba" by his family and friends . At an early age Judge was baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Darlington, SC. Judge re-confirmed his commitment to the Lord with Elder Joe N. Mallory, Pastor of the Progressive Worship Center.
Judge was educated in the Darlington County Public School System. Upon his graduation from Mayo High School in Darlington, SC, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Judge served his country well. Following his tour in the military, Judge moved to Philadelphia, PA. There he met and married the love of his life Daisy M . Coe. From this union eight children were born. The family then relocated to MarpleTownship; and then to Morton Borough where he resided for the past 39 years.
Judge was a real go-getter and possessed many skills which he put to use in different positions he held . He was employed at Swope Oil. He was an entrepreneur, owning his own Barber Shop in Philadelphia, PA. He was also a great mechanic working on everything from automobiles to television sets. If it was broke, he could fix it. Later in life, he was self-employed as a landscaper. He took great pride in each yard, making it a work of art. Judge had a list of clients from Morton, Yeadon, Darby, Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Judge had a quiet nature along with a unique sense of humor. He had a way of engaging you in one of his life stories and you would get
totally caught up, seriously listening, and then he would hit you with a punch line, and a smirk, (that only he could give), but you couldn't keep from laughing. Upon visiting him, you would often find him
watching his favorite movie "The Temptations" or "WWF". He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Judge will be remembered and cherished by his loving wife Daisy M . Coe ; three sons Allen Coe of Mt. Pocono, PA; Gregory Coe of Charlottesville, VA; and Judge Coe, Jr. of Upper Darby, PA ; five daughters Gloria Coe of Chesapeake, VA; Angela Coe-Wiggins of Darby, PA; Deborah Coe of Morton, PA; Shari Coe of Ardmore, PA; and Bernadette Coe Carnes of Media, PA; two brothers Gideon Coe of Berlin, N.J. ; Isaiah Coe of Darlington, S.C.; and three sisters Dora (Flora) Adams of Philadelphia, PA; and Mary Coe Poole of Darlington, S.C.; Elzena Coe Turner of Norristown, PA; t hree sisters in law Amy Morrison of Darlingt on, SC; Lorene Booker of Philadelphia, PA; Lexter Green of New York; one brother in-law Carolina Green of Brooklyn, NY; in-laws Rose Sega rs and Cora Felder.
