HE JOURNEY
Tne life journey of Jeryl Elizabeth Clemons began on September 29, 195 5, in Brook~ lyn, New York, where sne was born to Rev. Gerald and Elizabeth White. Sne accepted Christ at an early age and enjoyed ner life in tne cnurcn. Every Sunday, as soon as Jeryl entered tne cnurcn building, sne nad somebody's baby inner arms. Sne loved children and ner passion was demonstrated throughout ner life, as sne cared for ner own three children and ner
students. In tne early years, Jeryl sang in several cnurcn choirs and was a faitfltul member of Tne Hempstead Community Youth for Christ Choir. Sne was well~known for ner solo in tne gospel song, "Lean On Me .II Tne importance of education was always a driving force in Jeryl's lifa. Sne graduated from York College, with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and received ner Master's Degree from Queens College. Sne taught for tne New York City Board of Education at PS. 26 and later at Concord Baptist Cnurcn Elemen~ tary School in Brooklyn, N.Y I where sne was also a student in ner early cnildnood years.
On August I 7tn , 1985, Jeryl married Cullen Bernard Clemons , Sr. , at Faith Baptist Cnurcn , ner father's last pastorate before nis death . In 1991 I tne Clemons family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with their three children. Jeryl was a devoted wife, mother and teacher. She demonstrated her love for children and young people, while serving the Clayton County Board of Education at Lovejoy High School, Mt. Zion High School, Jonesboro Middle School, M.D. Roberts Middle School. Jeryl recently taught fifth grade at Jackson Elementary. She was a faitfltul member of Higher Living Christian Church of Jonesboro and former member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia. Jerylloved God and honored him with her faithfulness , as she served on the Usher's Ministry and in the choir for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, socializing and entertaining friends,
gospel music, watching movies and television. She was also an active member of "Yoga[, II an exercise class at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, GA.
God's master plan was fulfilled in the life of Jeryl Elizabeth Clemons on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Sne transitioned nome to be with tne Lord, after a brief illness. Jeryl is survived by ner three loving children, Cullen Bernard, Jr., Cynthia Brittany, Naomi Elizabeth, and ner devoted sister, Rev. Sharon A. White, a frost of cousins and friends, wno loved frer and will miss frer very mucfr.
