(('Miss 'Me 13ut Let f}.(e (jo''
When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul setfree? Miss me a little but not long
And not with you head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go. For this is a j ourney we all must take
And each must travel alone. It,s all a part ofthe Master ,s p lan,
A step qn the road home. When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.

cfhe Life andLegacy of Shaton o/a[ecia C[ay
Shaton was born in Atlanta, GA on March 1, 1962. She was a bright and loving child. Her primary education began at Haugabrooks Academy. She would later complete her studies within the walls of The Atlanta School System. After graduating from Douglass High School in 1980, she enrolled in West Georgia College in Carrollton, GA. Feeling a need for change, she returned home and entered Atlanta Junior College. Shaton has worked at Crawford Long Hospital while in high school. Her hard work and experience while at Crawford Long, led to a full-time position as a nurse 's assistant. Shaton realized that the medical profession was not her calling. She was hired by the Clayton County School system as a paraprofessional. There, she was one of Clayton's top paraprofessionals. Finally, Shaton discovered her calling - a career in education.
Shaton later obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education from Morris Brown College. She loved her career as a Teacher. She was an extraordinary teacher and taught for almost eight years in the Atlanta Public School system. Realizing more work was needed to take students and herself to another level, she entered Clark Atlanta University and accomplished her goal of obtaining a Masters Degree in Social Work. Her love for Alpha Kappa Alpha was quite evident to those who knew her. Shaton was also very committed to the Eastern Star. Other accolades include Who 's Who, Teacher of the Year and The Mastering Program at John Wesley Dobbs Elementary. Most of her adult life was spent travelling through the U.S. and abroad. No time was wasted. Prior to her death, she was employed by the DeKalb County Board of Education. Her final educational pursuit was the Ph.D. that she so deserved from Clark Atlanta University.
Those left to carry her memories include parents, Phyllis Raymond, Vivian and John Calvin; brothers, John Calvin Jr. and Raymond Jr.; sisters, Treece, Vershena and Sharee; grandparents, S.T. Andrews and Lillie B. Clay; preceding her in death, grandmother, Mary "Big Mamma" Andrews. Also the Andrews, Clay and Johnson family members and very loving friends.
